Handyperson

The Handyperson supports residents in Maidstone Borough through the ‘Helping You Home’ hospital discharge service and supporting the Accommodation and Community Protection teams.

We are looking for a Handyperson to support the ‘Helping You Home’ hospital discharge service, delivered in partnership with Maidstone Borough Council. To provide home safety checks, installation of telecare equipment, domestic maintenance, repairs, carpentry, and improvement services to the properties of residents who have been or will shortly be discharged from hospital in the Maidstone area, to ensure that their home is safe and fit to live in. Also supporting Maidstone Borough Council’s Accommodation Team, Community Protection Team and Sanctuary Scheme carrying out minor repairs, moving and building furniture, redecoration, installing key safes, extra locks for windows and doors; panic alarms; and security lighting.

You will need a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, high levels of resilience, good communication skills and be an empathetic listener.

Please note, you must be able to drive a transit van. The role also includes providing regulated activity with adults and employment is therefore subject to relevant checks with Disclosure and Barring service.
